NPR Covers Fathers & Families' Child Support Lawsuit, Two Members' Cases
“Holstein has made a chart to show how the new guidelines apply to various income levels. In the vast majority of cases, support orders went up, sometimes substantially. He looks at what would happen if both parents earn $50,000 a year. “'And the increase in the child support order in the current guidelines compared to the old guidelines is a 59% increase,’ Holstein says, ‘just as we go into a recession.’”
NPR station WBUR in Boston did a nice piece today on Fathers & Families’ recent challenge to the Massachusetts Child Support Guidelines. The story discusses the cases of two Fathers & Families members, Andrew Pelser and Simon Peffers.

New Column: Media Trashes Breadwinning Dads over Parenting Magazine's 'Mad at Dad' Survey
"Most moms have no reason to be mad at dads, and there’s no evidence that they are. Unfortunately, such a finding doesn’t play to the mainstream media’s anti-family 'woman good/man bad' drumbeat. It also doesn’t make for catchy headlines."
My new column, Media Trashes Breadwinning Dads over Parenting Magazine's 'Mad at Dad' Survey (World Net Daily, 3/6/09), co-authored with Robert Franklin, criticizes a flawed new anti-father study and the media's uncritical reaction to it.

Fathers & Families' Holstein Discusses DV Restraining Order bill on Ron Smith Show in Baltimore
Fathers & Families' Dr. Ned Holstein discussed a bill regarding domestic violence restraining orders on The Ron Smith Show on WBAL AM 1090 in Baltimore on Wednesday.
A recent vote in the Maryland House of Delegates upheld by a narrow margin a law that keeps recipients of Temporary Restraining Orders in a computer registry even though a judge has dismissed or denied the TRO.
Holstein explained the effects of the law--people who had been cleared are being denied jobs and/or housing because they're being kept in the computer registry.
